Our Core Goals & Objectives

At Lion’s Den Mentorship Inc., we don’t just provide guidance; we provide a data-backed response to the specific hurdles facing youth in Central Florida. While our schools are reaching new heights, our youth are facing internal crises that require expert intervention.

1. Closing the "Trauma Gap"

According to the 2024 Florida Youth Substance Abuse Survey (FYSAS), Lake and Orange Counties face a critical "Resilience Gap."

  • Lake County: 26% of high school students report four or more Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), a level of trauma nearly doubles the national average.

  • Orange County: 18.8% of high school students report high-level trauma (4+ ACEs), directly correlating to a 2x higher risk of depression and substance use.

  • Our Target: Achieve a 20% improvement in resilience scores for high-trauma youth through our specialized mentorship track.

2. Restorative Justice & Recidivism Prevention

We believe a single mistake shouldn't define a lifetime. We align our program with the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) best-practice models.

  • The Statistic: Successful Civil Citation programs in our region have lowered recidivism to just 3-4%.

  • Our Target: Limit the recidivism rate for all justice-involved mentees in Lake and Orange Counties to under 4%.

  • Our Goal: Eliminate violent escalations by providing 100% of participants with certified conflict resolution training.

3. Championing Academic Excellence

We bridge the gap between "passing" and "prospering."

  • Lake County: Recently reached a record 96% graduation rate for district-operated schools.

  • Orange County: Maintains a strong 92.7% graduation rate, yet disparities remain for marginalized youth.

  • Our Target: Maintain a 98% graduation rate for our mentees, ensuring they exceed district averages.

  • Our Goal: Ensure 85% of our seniors transition directly into college, trade schools, or high-skill vocational careers.

4. Combatting the "Dual-Use" Vaping Epidemic

The 2024 FYSAS reports show a dangerous shift in local substance use: 52% of students who vape nicotine are also vaping marijuana.

  • Our Target: Maintain a 95% abstinence rate for vaping and illicit drug use among our participants.

  • Our Goal: 100% participation in our "Healthy Brain" curriculum to combat early-stage addiction.

5. Bridging the Mental Health Access Gap

With Florida ranking 46th in the nation for access to mental health care, our non-profit serve as a critical frontline.

  • The Need: Approximately 14% of local students report having attempted suicide in the last year.

  • Our Target: 100% of mentees will have 24/7 access to a trained mentor and immediate knowledge of the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
